CROSSING THE LANES...

A poem for Richard from David, who spent 47
years each day with his dad..until a tragic
accident occurred and he was taken away...

SOMETIMES I LOOK AND SEE THE LANES
WHITE FIGURE CROSSING UNDETAINED
HE WILL NOT MAKE IT TO THE OTHER SIDE
THE SHADOWS CAST IN PHANTOM GLIDE
TOGETHER IN OUR LIVES WE WERE
HAPPY SOULS, FRIENDS TO THE END
IN SUMMER SHOALS.
THE MERIDIAN IS NEAR BUT FAR AWAY,
YOU LIVED YOUR LIFE IN TIMELESS DISMAY,
YOU ARE GREAT AND IMMORTAL AND
ETERNAL TO ME,
REMEMBER THOSE PASSING SHIPS BY THE SEA

THE STRIKE IS SUDDEN AND YOU KNOW NOT
WHERE,
TAKEN AWAY FROM ME WAS TOO MUCH
TO BEAR,
NOW THE STRENGTHS ARE RELEASED THAT WERE
CAPPED INSIDE, AND WE BOTH ARE FREE
AND HOME TO GLIDE.

YOU WILL MEET MY MOTHER WHO CARED FOR YOU,
SHE LEFT IN WINTER BIDING ADEUI
NOW YOU ARE WITH HER AND THERE IS NO PAIN
JUST BRILLIANT STARS AND GOLDEN FIELDS
WHERE YOU WALK IN HEAVENLY REIGN.
